Gaeilge, Irish, or “Irish Gaelic” is the national and first official of Ireland, as well as one of the official languages of the European Union. More distant than French and Spanish, stranger than Slavic languages and more exotic and beautiful than many languages, Irish is an interesting specimen of an ancient Celtic tongue still in use today.
While Irish is quite different, there are many aspects that make it pretty straightforward to learn. Our Tír na mBláth language classes are taught by Jeff Haynes and Professor Sean Quilter. The class provides learners with a general overview of the language, useful phrases, insights into Irish culture and some history. The language classes are fun, informal, and allow for questions and conversation. The best part is that classes are FREE!
Classes take place weekly, Sunday afternoons at 3:00pm in the Brian Reagan room (the one with the fireplace and wooden floor) of Tim Finnegan’s Irish Pub, 2885 South Federal Highway, Delray Beach, FL 33483.
