Big Events for the Season
Tír na mBláth has some big events coming up for the season.
First, we’ll stage a Green Market Membership Drive in Pompano Beach on December 13 from 8am to 1pm where we’ll set up our new canopy, banners, flags, and have volunteers and seisiún players for entertainment. Come be a part of the fun!
Second, we’re hosting a book reading by Irish author Maura Mulligan who will read excerpts from her book The Call of the Lark. She’s coming to Tim Finnegan’s on January 4, at 4pm to read excerpts from her powerful memoir The Call of the Lark. Born in County Mayo, Ireland, Maura Mulligan worked on the family farm, danced on stage, and served pints in a pub. In America, she became a telephone operator and, later, a nun. Leaving religious life after sixteen years of service, she taught Irish language and dance and appeared on stage as a dancer and actor. A teacher of English to speakers of other languages in New York City public schools, she has served as Field Supervisor in the TESOL program for Hunter College.
On January 30, at 7pm we stage our Céilí Social Dance at St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in Pompano Beach with Dance Leader Kathy Kelly and live music by Sharon & Mike.
This is just the start and there’s more to come so stay in touch.
